Bidyadanga Artists are continuing to showcase the strength, diversity and creativity of contemporary Aboriginal art through two significant exhibitions currently on display in Broome and Darwin.
The Colours of the Desert exhibition at Redbill Studio & Gallery in Broome brings together vibrant works by Bidyadanga artists Bibianna Tumbler, Corina Jadai and Jenny Butt. The exhibition celebrates the artists' connections to Country through colour, story and contemporary expression, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the rich artistic traditions and perspectives of the Bidyadanga community.
At the same time, works by Venetta Yanawana and Edward Badal are featured in this year's Salon des Refusés, currently showing in Darwin and online. Recognised as a companion exhibition to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA), Salon des Refusés highlights the diversity, innovation and strength of contemporary First Nations art from across Australia.
Adding to this achievement, Bidyadanga artists Kiarah Mandjilau-Jadai, Venetta Yanawana and Jaymee-Lee Chaugber have also been selected as finalists in this year's NATSIAA, one of Australia's most prestigious Indigenous art awards.
These exhibitions provide an important platform for Bidyadanga artists to share their stories, culture and connection to Country with audiences across the nation. Their inclusion reflects the talent and dedication of the artists, as well as the important role art continues to play in preserving and celebrating culture.
